Świat Telekomunikacji magazine awards Roman Szwed, CEO of ATM S.A., with a Golden Antenna in the Manager of the Year category
Mr. Szwed was awarded for "seven-fold increase of his company's shares value".
He has been working at ATM for 16 years. In 1994, he became the president of the management board. In September 2004, the company he headed was listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Both the financial market and independent analysts appreciate Mr. Szwed’s contribution to increasing the company’s value, revenues and profits, and emphasize that these were mostly possible because of effective management.
"It is always a great pleasure to receive such awards, because they reflect the opinions of the industry," said Szwed. "I take it to be an award for the entire company. Our success was possible only because of the joint efforts of the whole staff."
"Nowadays everyone seems to be talking about convergence. This is the way ATM works," emphasized Szwed. The company has a long tradition as an IT systems integrator and carrier. At the same time it focuses on introducing platforms for delivering value-added services, especially distributing digital content (video on demand). The company also intends to develop software, some of it for the public administration sector.
The company was frequently awarded by the State Committee for Scientific Research during POLMAN conferences in 1995, 1996, and 1997 for its ICT solutions. ATM S.A. was the first to introduce a super-computer in Poland, as well as being the country’s first commercial ISP. Last year, the Migut Media publishing house awarded a Golden Antenna to one of the company’s products, ATM POS TV, in the "Product of the Year — stationary business solution" category.
