Sputnik Software's Proton recognized as the Application of the Year 2008
Sputnik Software Sp. z o.o., a member of the ATM S.A. capital group, has won the prestigious Application of the Year 2008 contest organized by Microsoft.
The participants are companies offering business solutions on the Polish market. Beside the votes of the members of the jury, the evaluation takes account of user opinions. In this year’s edition of the contest, the prize of the Application of the Year has been awarded to Sputnik Software’s Proton.
Proton is a system of electronic document flow for state administration offices. It replaces the legacy manner of handling paper documents at the levels of receiving and sending mail, processing requests, archiving and performing other tasks implied by office regulations. One of the modules of this system allows to submit digitally signed documents (via the Internet).
“This was the first project we have completed in line with the SputnikAgile methodology based on Microsoft’s recommendations,” said Leszek Masłowski, until recently the Proton project manager and currently the director of Sputnik Software’s Production and Development Department. “I have to admit that the results have exceeded our expectations. We were able to deliver the first version of Proton already five months after commencing the works. This allowed our users to review the direction of the development and meanwhile, we could focus on the best adaptation of our solution to the market requirements.”
Proton already operates in more than 200 various state and territorial administration units. In the full implementation scenario, the system operates on every workstation in the office. Incoming documents are scanned and introduced to the electronic flow. Each employee is able to access the searched document within seconds (with consideration of his or hers access rights). Administration unit management has control over the request completion time, while the Web access allows petitioners to get immediate insight into the status of their cases. Economic and environmental aspects, such as savings on paper, photocopiers and consumable supplies, also cannot be overestimated.
“After Bestia, Proton is our next flagship product,” said Tomasz Maćkowiak, member of Sputnik Software’s management board. “I am glad that the quality and flexibility, key attributes of our solutions, have been recognized and appreciated. I believe that this award allows us to expect an important increase of our share in public procurements.”
