ATMAN as the first Polish operator present in Europes three largest interconnect nodes

ATMAN, Polish countrywide telecommunications operator (owned by ATM S.A.), launched a new international line to London, and is Poland’s only operator present in all three European largest interconnect nodes (AMS-IX, DE-CIX, LINX).

ATMAN, whose specialization includes broadband data transmission and providing Internet access to businesses and organizations, is the only Polish operator to be present in all three European largest interconnect nodes: in Amsterdam, Frankfurt and London. The exchange of traffic in these nodes is an alternative and complementary solution to the IP transit performed by Tier-1 operators (networks which constitute the global backbone of the Internet). This allows over 50% of worldwide Internet resources to be available through direct, unlimited and free-of-charge interfaces with hundreds of operators.

By launching a new international line to London (LINX — London Internet Exchange), the company increased the maximum throughput of lines to interconnect nodes from 20 Gbps to 30 Gbps and ensured redundancy for other nodes. Meanwhile, new 10 Gbps lines were launched for some networks with highest levels of traffic (e.g. the Google network is now available through direct interfaces in Frankfurt and Warsaw).

“Launching the new international line to London is one of major events in the area of our network investments”, said Maciej Krzyżanowski, Vice President of the Management Board of ATM S.A. “Our presence in interconnect nodes means not only the reduction of costs but also a measurable increase of the quality of our services and further shortening of the distance to the worldwide Internet by a few milliseconds”, he added.

Beside traffic exchange in interconnect nodes, ATMAN uses the lines of three Tier-1 operators to enable full international transit. The selected configuration ensures security to each interconnect point (with two 10 Gbps interfaces each) as well as to the entire solution (lines with redundant capacity enabling failover).
