ASTER uses new ATMAN services

ASTER Sp. z o.o. and ATM S.A., provider of ATMAN-branded carrier-class telecommunications services, have signed a Peering.Global agreement to exchange IP traffic in largest European interconnect nodes through the ATMAN data network.

Peering.Global, a new service for ISPs, enables traffic exchange with all operators and content providers present in Europe's three largest nodes (AMS-IX in Amsterdam, DE-CIX in Frankfurt and LINX in London).

The direct connection of networks in the interconnect node means not only cost savings, but primarily the ability to achieve the best technical parameters (minimum latency and packet loss, shortest routing paths, no band limits). As the interconnect nodes grew rapidly over the last years, now they allow to reach more than a half of Internet's global resources. ATMAN is the only Polish operator to be present in all three major European nodes.

"ASTER chose Peering.Global, because we wanted to provide our users with the best conditions for accessing Internet resources, including network games or multimedia applications. For these purposes, the optimization of technical parameters and high quality on a permanent basis is of particular importance. Therefore, Peering.Global, a unique service on the Polish market, is a valuable component of our company's Internet network," said Wiesław Oleksiak, ASTER's CTO.

"ASTER has used ATMAN services since 2003. We keep developing and upgrading our network, and we continuously introduce new services designed to meet the requirements of the most demanding customers. This allowed us to maintain excellent customer relationships over several years, which is one of the key business objectives. We are particularly proud to cooperate with market leaders, and ASTER is certainly one of them," said Maciej Krzyżanowski, Vice-President of ATM S.A.'s Management Board.

ASTER is a leading provider of four telecommunication services: TV, broadband Internet access, and fixed and mobile telephony. It provides services to consumers and business customers, and is a leader in introducing new telecommunications services on the Polish market. ASTER was the first company in Poland, and one of the first in Europe, to provide its customers with a quadruple play service which combines TV (cable, analog and digital), broadband Internet access, fixed telephony and mobile telephony in one package.

ASTER is owned by the Mid Europa Partners LLP investment fund, a leading private equity organization on the Central and Eastern European market. It invests in mature, economically viable industry leaders operating in that part of Europe. Mid Europa Partners LLP owns shares of telecommunications companies, such as Invitel (Hungary), MobiFon (Romania), Orange (Slovakia) and other. Its portfolio includes companies of the fixed and mobile telephony industry, as well as cable TV providers.

Since early nineties, it has been present on the telecommunications market in three Polish cities: Warsaw, Krakow, Zielona Góra and in their vicinity. ASTER delivers services to 380,000 analog TV subscribers, ca. 87,000 digital TV subscribers, 172,200 Internet subscribers, 67,000+ fixed telephony subscribers, and 45,000+ mobile telephony subscribers (as at March 31, 2010).
