mPay to process mobile payments of the Orange customers

mPay S.A. and PTK Centertel Sp. z o.o. have signed an agreement on processing mobile payments made by the customers of the Orange network. The service, to be launched at the end of this year under the brand name Płać Komórką (pay with your mobile), will be based on the mPay platform.

mPay S.A. has been present on the Polish market for almost 3 years. From its establishment, the company actively participated in all major initiatives aimed at developing and popularizing payments using a mobile phone. The company consistently increases the scope of its services, and wins more partners. After the cities of Warsaw, Krakow, Łódź, Ostrów Wielkopolski and Bydgoszcz, the mPay mobile payment system is now to cover Kielce. The system has more than 180 thousand registered users, and is the longest-operated and most popular commercial mobile payment system on the Polish market.

Cooperation with mPay is an element of Orange’s strategy of mobile payment development. Through cooperation with mobile payment service providers (such as mPay), banks, payment organizations, and certification organizations, Orange builds user-friendly solutions for its customers, enabling them to use the mobile phone as a convenient payment method. Customers of PTK Centertel (operator of the Orange network) were the first (as early as in 2002) to use mobile payments of parking fees. Thanks to the cooperation with mPay, they will be able later this year to use new solutions with a significantly broader scope of applications.

Płać Komórką is a universally available mobile payment system managed by mobile network operators and supported by the mPay platform. The system enables making payments with a mobile phone, among others for parking fees, traveling fares, and topping-up the prepaid cards. It also allows paying in online stores, and completing person-to-person money transfers.

mPay S.A. has developed an innovative technology making financial transactions via mobile possible. The company operates as a billing agent providing telcos and banks with a flexible mobile payment platform. mPay was recognized as one of the ten most innovative service providers in the world at the 2008 GSMA Congress in Barcelona. It was the first company in Poland to obtain an approval of the National Bank of Poland for settling payments using mobile telephones. mPay is a subsidiary of the ATM Capital Group.
