Mobile fare payments in Bia造stok

mPay and the public transport authority in Bia造stok launched a mobile fare payment service. Bia造stok is the third city, after Warsaw and Lublin, where passengers can buy tickets using the mPay system. In December, the service will be also available in Krakow.

Passengers in Bia造stok will be able to buy single-ride tickets, as well as 24-hour and weekend travel cards. The service launch was announced by Tadeusz Truskolaski, city mayor, during a press conference on November 15. The journalists present at the conference viewed a presentation of the mobile payment system, given by mPay S.A.

Bia造stok has therefore joined the group of several Polish cities where the mPay system is operated. At present, mobile payment services can be used by almost 4 million inhabitants of such cities as Warsaw, Krakow, Lublin, ód, Ostrów Wielkopolski, Bydgoszcz, Kielce, Nysa, Grudzi康z, Krosno, and 安inouj軼ie.

The mPay system has more than 200 thousand registered users, and is the longest-operated and most popular commercial mobile payment system on the Polish market. No additional applications are required. The service is available with any telephone model.
In addition to tickets, the service users in the abovementioned cities may also pay the parking fees, as well as top up their prepaid phones and make other payments through their mobile phones.

In 2010, the operators of the Era, Orange, Plus, and Play networks adopted the common brand name P豉 komórk (Pay with your mobile) to mark the outlets where mobile payments are supported.

mPay S.A. has developed an innovative technology making financial transactions via mobile possible. The company operates as a billing agent providing telcos and banks with a flexible mobile payment platform. mPay was recognized as one of the ten most innovative service providers in the world at the 2008 GSMA Congress in Barcelona. It was the first company in Poland to obtain an approval of the National Bank of Poland for settling payments using mobile telephones. mPay is a subsidiary of the ATM Capital Group.
