ATM S.A. opens F5 - a new colocation facility

The recently built F5 facility is part of ATMAN Data Center owned by ATM S.A. It contains three storeys of server rooms, a modern power supply, air-conditioning, and advanced security systems. This latest development enables to adapt the server space in any way desired, according to customers needs.

The newly commissioned building increases the ATMAN Data Centers existing space by 3000 sq m (1400 sq m net) to a total of 9400 sq m (5300 sq m net). It may be used by both large and small firms that wish to achieve effective optimization of the costs of storing and processing data. The gala of the F5 Grand Opening provided an opportunity to meet more than 200 representatives of local and European business. Guests were also honored by the presence of a representative from the Informatization Department at the Ministry of Administration and Digitization.

Information technology is among the domains in which Poland does not give ground to the more developed markets. The main factor behind this is large investment projects like the creation by ATM S.A. of new colocation space in the F5 building. This creates expansion opportunities for the city, but it also attracts Western capital to Poland. Thanks to this type of initiative, not only Eastern but also Western Europe views Poland as an attractive and reliable partner in business, said Sebastian Christow, Director of the Informatization Department at the Ministry of Administration and Digitization.

Demand for data center services is stimulated by many factors, including the digitization of business and the public sector, development of LTE technologies, the increasing number of mobile devices and quantity of transmitted data, and also the development of social media and e-commerce. A large impact also comes from the growing demand for cloud solutions. It is enough to mention that while in 2010 the Polish cloud computing market was valued at $35 million, two years later it was worth twice that amount, and according to current forecasts by 2017 its value is expected to exceed $200 million1.

The opening of the F5 building is an important investment and a stimulus for further expansion and obtaining by ATM S.A. more international customers. For many years we have been investing in creating ever larger and better equipped space in the ATMAN Data Center, as well as constantly increasing the standard of our services. This applies both to the technical parameters of server rooms which make us stand out in the Polish market, and our sales and technical servicing which is oriented towards customer needs. The F5 building is our answer to the markets growing requirements. More and more businesses, instead of adapting their own office premises to the needs of an expanding server room, outsource their information and communications resources to data centers. Confirmation of this comes from the results of the recently published PMR research, concerning the Polish data center market growth rate of which is expected to remain steady at 1520% in the coming years. This is no surprise, since on the one hand IT outsourcing favors the optimization of costs, while on the other it increases data security, said Tadeusz Czichon, CEO of ATM S.A.

The F5, like the other buildings making up the ATMAN Data Center in Warsaw, is provided with an emergency power supply system and extensive connectivity infrastructure, failsafe cooling and fire-extinguishing systems, as well as 24-hour physical security, monitoring, access control and 24/7 servicing, which enables immediate reaction to potential threats.

The businesses using the network and server infrastructure at the F5 are also assured of fast and effective data transfer via ATM S.A.s fiber-optic network. The company provides telecommunications services using symmetric links with fully guaranteed bandwidth and zero IP packet loss. The ATMAN network has direct, high-capacity connection points with more than a thousand telecommunications networks worldwide, as well as access nodes at the largest Internet exchange points in Poland (EPIX, PLIX, PWR Thinx, TPIX) and Europe (in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Kiev, London and Moscow). All of this ensures that ATM S.A. customers receive the highest quality and unfailing access to Internet resources.

Commissioning of the F5 building completes the expansion of the ATMAN-Grochowska Communications Center and brings to an end the construction of ATM Innovation Center a project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Innovative Economy Operational Programme, 20072013.
